2013 ~ New Beginnings

The best part of January 1 is its a New year and a new beginning to start over and reestablish new ideas and also start a new project life album.

I did alright in 2012 collecting all the items, taking photos & writing each day the problem was assembling the pages into the binder. It was difficult as I did not have a location where I could keep my album out with out it becoming a dog toy or cat napper mat.

So for 2013 I plan to continue the style and concept of project life. I am only going to make it my own!!! After moving this past Spring and seeing the 12+ boxes of scrapbook stuff it made me realize that I have stuff not scrapbooks. It was hard but I made a promise to myself that I would use up everything I have before buying more.

After digging into the boxes and finding several mini albums I realize how much fun I love doing mini albums...so the idea hit me for 2013 I will do a mini album!

Why a mini album?

  • It is 6x6  so I can carry it with me
  • The pages are both card stock and plastic pockets. The pockets are made from misc other pages that were cut down to fit the size.
  • I can use up a great deal of stashed items in that size format
  • It will fit on the shelf easier
  • There is only 2 of us
  • Don't feel obligated to scrap everyday!!!

I know you are asking yourself "How will 365 days fit in a 6x6?"
That is the best part, if and when I feel this album is full I can begin another mini album. It doesn't have to all fit into one book.

Here is a peek at the beginnings of the 2013 album:

My next project during 2013 is to finish what you started! I have several classes over at big picture classes that I was not able to finish for one reason or another so I am going to start over and finish them ALL!!!

I also found myself looking at old scrapbook books and gathering new ideas. I loved how old some of these books were I do not know if you can even buy some of these anymore. The one I love most is The Big Picture: Scrapbook Your Life. The concept is the same just the material we maybe using is different.

Lots of Inspiring going on this last day of 2012!

I hope that 2013 brings lots of creativity & completion of unfinished projects!

Let me know what your plans for 2013 will be....

Merry Christmas!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas Holiday!!

Hope to see you in 2013!

Thank you for stopping by!

What a mess!

When we moved I did not have time to really pack the way I wanted to. I have not given it much thought about sorting it back out due to the fact that I wonder if I will even use some of these items. I may just get a jar and display them.

Trying to get things cleaned up and start fresh for 2013!!!

Do you still use brads in your layouts?

December Daily

Hi!
I was able to work on my December Daily... Thanks for stopping by!

The book is 6x9 and I used pages from Simple Stories

On the 12th we went to see a live nativity. It was very nice.
The pocket holds the story of the nativity and our thoughts.

The tan rectangle is not part of the page.
I used it to cover the personal information I had written in the journaling.

The 14th is actually a small pocket page.

Most people are just doing their December album up to Christmas, I am planning on covering the whole month of December and potentially part of New Years celebration.

Wrapping up projects

Cover
I was able to get some progress done these past couple of days! I got my Gratitude journal set up and ready to start the final detailed journaling. Yes I know its a November project and its not November?!? Well it's ok I am OK with the fact that it is not on time as some people would say.

That is the best part of being creative it is all about YOU not anything or anyone else!!!

The cover feels like it still needs something more added to it. So I will wait until I feel what needs to be added later.

I used the free download on the 30 days from Cathy Zielske blog. I printed them smaller so they would fit on the pages easier.

I then used my facebook account to help write each day  something I was thankful for then I printed out the pages. If there were comments I added them to the pages.

Also if there were photos they were added as well.
As you can see there is some pages blank. This is where I plan to go back and journal my feeling about why I am thankful for it. I felt that part was more personal and will make it special in the coming years.
Since this was a smash book so of the graphics were getting in the way of writing anything so I added some paper where it will be easier to read and write something meaningful.

Not only did I finish the journal but I was able to get all my notes written down from my Big Picture class Twelve. I am so excited to be getting things marked off my list! I got the journal when I signed up for the class. As you can see all the tabs sticking out. I plan to use this for more ideas from other classes. I love how it is organized.

Now to get Project life in control!!!
Thanks for stopping by, what are you working on?

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday?

Hi! This is something new I hope to carry on in the coming weeks... every Wednesday many different bloggers share what they are currently working on over at the blog Stamping Ground.

So here is what my desk looks like:

I have an assistant helping, my cat Chester. I think she just likes the sun shining.

I am working on my Project life book! I have gotten 2 months done!!! Hopefully I can get more work done with this before starting in 2013. I am not sure what I am going to do next year. I feel I may change it up a bit but still thinking on that.

I would love it if the Project album was in a smaller size.

Welcome December!!

It's here the last month of 2012! WOW!!
And it has started off in high speed! I was hoping to have photos of my work on here but Nooo! I am finishing up the last week of my class this week but after that I should have more photos up!

I have 3 project going right now:

November Gratitude album: Which has everything printed in a box waiting for me to get a moment to finish it up.

December Daily: Also has everything with it just waiting to be put together.... I am starting to see a pattern here.

Project Life: I have been able to finish up to March in my Project life album. My goal is to finish out the year by the end of the year. I think I can do it with the simplicity of the pages. Just got to find a couple of days with nothing to both me. Hum how hard will that be?

Out of these I must say everything is organized in plastic boxes or zip lock bags waiting for a free moment.    New years plans is to NOT do this!!!
I picked up 8 of these boxes from Costco but they are also available here from Amazon. They are just the right size to put stuff in.

How many projects do you have going at once?

November Gratitude Mini

This November I have been working on yet another mini album. I see a theme of many mini albums coming up. I love doing them because they are so much fun!!! {PHOTO TO COME}

For this one I used a mini smash book I picked up a while back. I thought this would be perfect to use. The only issue I have with Smash books is that it seems I have to tear out pages to make the pages turn easier. I also cut off the pen holder since I would not need it with the finished product.

Each day I wrote what I was thankful for and then added photos, embellishments and journaling a little deeper to why I was thankful for the person, item or relationship.

I have a few more days to fill this book up. I should make this a new tradition.

What are you thankful for this year?

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mail

I love getting postcards!
I know I have slowed down in
sending cards due to the postage increase. I often wonder if there will be a time when there is no mail???

Here are some of the recent postcards I got...

This is a photo of the lady's cat that she turned into a postcard.

What was the last thing you sent in the mail?

Got it made!!!~December Album

I got my December Mini-Album
made this past week....

I am not quite done as I still need to add more pages since I plan to document the whole month of December not just the first 12 or 25 days.

I could not find an album that worked for what I wanted so I found 2 chipboard to created the foundation of the book.

This photo was before I put the book together. I plan to add more ribbons to the rings as it goes along.

The flowers that I used on the cover were actually from a valentine kits. I tried to find things from my stash to complete this book. Thinking outside of what it is made for helps makes things more unique.

The button was from the Studio Calico 25 days Christmas class. I wasn't sure I would like using buttons but after this I really like them. They are flatter than most.

This is the first page and the inside cover on the left. I will post more photos after I get the book finish.

What are you doing for December?

Thanks for stopping by!

Mini album

While unpacking I found a mini album that I made a from my trip to the coast with my sister and her son.
This was an album that I made from acrylic covers and file folders as the pages.  I used several items that I had from my stash which made the book simple and affordable.

Its easier to see the cover page...

The right hand side has a pocket

This one has an extra fold out page...

I still need to add more journaling to the album which I had written in a notebook while on the trip.

I may use this idea for my December album but not sure yet...what do you think?

December Daily Album

I can not believe it is almost December?!? Where did 2012 go? This year I wanted to get my album done before December to help getting into the spirit of the season. I looked all over at kits online, in the stores and really did not see what I was looking for so while I was out in the "BIG" city I stopped by the scrapbook store and collected a few items to create this years book.

I will also add some items from my stash as well.
After getting home I realized that 98% of the items are from Simple Stories
Here are some of the products that I will plan on using: Countdown stickersHomemade Holiday Sn@p pages

This year I am taking the class over on Studio Calico called "25 days: A December Daily"
which should be fun!! Can not wait. I am also reading the blog from Ali Edwards.

These are the Homemade Holiday Sn@p pockets from Simple stories

I did not find an actual album to hold the pages together so I will have to create something which will be fun since I am still working out of my boxes from the move. I did clean out a few but nothing is back in place so its lots of fun trying to remember where I put everything :)

Stay posted!!

You are already AMAZING!

A while back my husband picked up a book for me to read.
I know I have zillion of books to read but this one is different.
Its a book that helped me realize that I am amazing!
It is by Holley Gerth called "You're Already Amazing".  More information or to Pick it up here

Holley talks to you as a friend and it really has given me a new look on life and what God's purpose has for me. I am only on a few chapter's in so I am looking forward to finishing the book and seeing how it works out. I do not want to give away too much since the book may have different meaning for different readers.

If you want to drop by and visit Holley Gerth Blog please do!!

Project Life update

I got everything out and found that I have not entered anything from 2012. That is one thing I like about doing this yearly album this way. It makes it easy to pull together several days and months.

Since me moved my scrapbook room is currently filled with boxes that need to be unpacked. I am having to use the kitchen table to put everything together.

Since I am working on January, it is possibly because during the year I placed everything in an envelope and write the date on the back. I also write notes on my daily calendar to help know what happen when.

Happy Halloween!!

BOO!

This is a mini album that I made last year. I wanted to capture a weekend getaway that me & my husband went on during Halloween.

I made the book from chipboard. I covered the chipboard with paper and punched the holes using my croc-a-dile punch. I love using this as it cuts through anything. Then I pulled it together using rings.
The pages are photo pockets.

This is the inside cover (below). Yes, that is a Target gift card. I saw it and knew I had to have it for this mini book.

The back cover has a tag (photo below). The elements are from a collection from years gone by :) It was nice to finally use them. I believe some was off a gift or card.

I love using items from my collection.
Sorry I did not list the designer or the company. I do not know who they are from.

Thanks for looking!

Hello!
Yes, this blog is still up and running.
I have been brainstorming how to get more involved with add more craft ideas and potentially some mini album creations participating in blog challenges etc.

I have been in search of a mini album subscription kit for weeks and have not been able to find one. WHY? Most of them are either HIGH priced for no product or they are for a few layouts. I am still searching.

POSTCROSSING:
I also have several postcards I need to post. It was discouraging when all 13+ cards that I sent were never received and the person would never respond to emails. So I gave up for a while. This time I am only sending 4-5 cards at a time and will not send out more until they have arrived at their destination.

Keep checking in! Hopefully 2013 will be more creative!

Thanks!!

Where did the time go?

Moving takes up so much time and then getting everything back in order. WOW!! Don;t want to move again for a very long time.

I have not even been able to send out postcards. Which I am looking forward to getting that back in full swing in the coming weeks.

Keep in touch!!

Sending postcards

I finally got down to business and sent out a ton of postcards.Since the postage has gone up I will not send a second card if the first card gets lost. I have noticed there are a lot of people on postcrossing that sign up but never do anything past that. Which is sad as it delays people who are active to send other cards.

Here is an example of the cards I sent. I still need to make a card for 2012 but just have not gotten around to it and found the right photos.

Any suggestions?
