September drifting away

Can't believe we are almost over with the month of September. All the pumpkin spice is in the stores, coffee and food products which means the holiday seasons will be following quickly. I love this time of year when the weather isn't like a version of hell on earth and you can actually step outside with out being a ball of sweat.

This past month has been super crazy with all of the weather related issues of Hurricane Harvey & Irma. My heart goes out to all the people that were in the path and are now working towards rebuilding their lives due to the hurricane. Seeing the photos and hearing the stories just breaks my heart into pieces.

For my September journal, I went a different route. I wanting to include watercolors, collage and other art into it making it more of an art journal than a diary. I am using a Ranger Journal Dylusions Creative Journal. It has 48 pages so that is perfect for a monthly journal.

Yes, I said monthly journal. I am liking the idea of have one journal per month to help celebrate the month and have the ability not to be limited by space or pages. Last month, I used a journal that limited my number of pages and I discovered it was the wrong way to go. I am thankful I went that direction but also thankful it was only a few weeks of using it. More like 2 weeks.

I did start this month with a creative calendar outline in my journal:

I used post it notes to block out the days and then watercolor over the entire page. I like how it turned out in the end. The spots where it tended to bleed into the square was not the watercolors but the post it note coloring. Glad I used a similar color :)

Here is some art page I did with glossy paint experiment. I learned I didn't like the glossy paint. It felt like painting with Elmers glue. Not a fan. but I can mark it off my list of art materials to try. I am planning to find a quote to either write over it or use the lines to write it within the piece.

What is your favorite type of art medium to use in your journal?

Dusting off my blog

Hi!
I found it was time to dust off my blog and try to write again.
Let's see if I can keep it rolling :)

I have been spending most of my time on Instagram. It is so much easier. Just snap a photo and BAM your done with your post :)

I have been doing some "Found" Art thanks to thefoundartwalk.com/  I have found inspiration while walking to work, to the car or just out walking. I love it! It make me think outside the box and use what I have and not worrying about buying new products to create art.

Below are two of my creations from this inspiration:

I think I am going to do a 30 day challenge of art next month.... What inspires you?

This photo is not what we are seeing here in Texas. Everything is still green.
Loving the cooler weather. Can't wait until the leaves follow.
What does your Fall look like?

Bible Journaling

I am starting to finally work on my bible journaling project. I got the tabs started and got the supplies gathered up. I have to go get the second set of the tabs. Didn't realize there were two sets.

I am taking a free class in a couple weeks about Bible Journaling at a local bookstore. I am curious about what they have to say. I know the basics but not a formal class. I know they will want to sell me stuff but luckily I already have a good stock of supplies.

Who out there is doing bible journaling? I admit at first it really bothered me coloring in a bible but then someone explained to me that it is a form of studying. If you go look I am sure you have more than one bible in your bookshelf. I plan to use this as a form of studying and reading. I am hoping that this will allow me to combine my love of Art and my love for the word.
As always more to come....

It's been a while

Well Hello dear friends. It has been a few moons since I have been on here. It took me almost 3 hours to figure out how to log back on, remember my passwords and which email I used for this system. Luckily, I have only had a few email addresses between 2009 & now so it wasn't too difficult.
I am wanting to get this blog thing back on track and get it flowing! Not sure if anyone is out there but if you are drop a comment below!

This is watercolors & hot glue.
