Mail call & Chicken update

Well I have been out of town for a few days for a residency program and when I got home I had a mail box full of cards...

The chickens are up to laying 7 eggs a day on average! 

So I will have to get my list out and start delivering eggs!

Progress is being made...

Even with the crazy life situations that has been going on this past month. I have been able to work on the needlework. I often wonder if it is taking so much longer because I am choosing my own colors compared to just following the directions?

I should finish up in about a week. I did get off a bit with the chart but that's ok once I am done the frame will cover it up.

Update on the chickens....

They are laying an average of 3 eggs a day now. One day they surprised me with 6!! There are usually 2 whites and one brown egg. The numbers should start increasing with time.

One of the eggs is always a small egg. The chicken is a smaller chicken. I am sure the size will not increase on her eggs.

Chickens

They are having a time with this heat. They are standing in a pan of water to help cool them off. I am also giving them frozen watermelons to help. 

I recently found a new feature on my camera that takes photos and turns them into drawings... kinda cool :)

They are having fun!

Chickens are growing!!

This weekend was the start to building the chickens final home. I believe we are all ready to get them settled into something a little more permanent. The chicks have started to loose their cute fuzz and started growing their feathers. The colors are changing and they are starting to look like chickens more and more each day!

We were able to work on the coop for the past two days even with the high winds and high temperatures. The chickens should be happy with this coop as there is lot of room for them to grow in. 

The building is still going on but its a great building!!! I will post a finished photo when were done...

Chickens

We first decided to raise ducks and chickens after a trip to Atwood's in Waco. First we wanted to do some research and found several good blogs that helped us out learning what we needed to know before getting any baby chicks or ducklings.

When the time came there were no ducks at the store and we did not want to order 10 of them so we just went with 16 chicks. A variety of colors and types.

We still have to build the outside coop but the adventure should be a fun one!!

We need to name all of them. So far we have only a few names; Daffy, Goldy, Biggin, & Red.

Any suggestions??
